How Busy Women Can Get All Their Reading In

Growing up, many women have heard that reading is fundamental. Usually, it’s within the context of someone who failed to read and paid the consequences. However, reading is fundamental to the expansion of the mind. To challenge the brain and get more mental stimulation, a woman should commit to the practice of daily reading. Furthermore, as more ladies are climbing the corporate ladder and becoming dominant forces in the workforce, it’s crucial to remember that leaders are readers. To be able to govern a space and manage its growth well, a woman needs to be well-read and informed. It might seem like an impossible task for the busy woman. However, with the intention and the implementation of these tips, any busy woman can get all of her reading in. If you’re a woman who struggles to find the time to get your personal reading in, consider these strategies.

1. First Task of the Day

Set your alarm early and read in silence. If you have a spouse and children, wake up in the wee hours of the morning while they’re still asleep. It’ll give you some time to enjoy peace and quiet. You’ll also be able to get centered, workout and enjoy some morning reading before you start your day. As you’re beginning the day, it’s a great idea to read something that’s positive or motivational to get you in the right frame of mind.

2. Last Task of the Day

It’s also a nice idea to end the day by reading. Use this as a time to read your favorite juicy fiction novel. Allow it to be a fun read that you can really sink your teeth into. Since it’s the last task of the day and you’re winding down, it’s best to read a physical copy of a book. The bright lights from a mobile device tend to alert the brain and keep it wired for hours after. This practice will help you wind down for bed.

3. Audio Reading

Take the time to enjoy an audiobook when you’re stuck in traffic. It’s a great way to stay entertained and learn something new at the same time. If you’ve found yourself wanting to tackle more chapters of the Bible, try the King James Audio Bible Online to cross a few chapters off of your list each day.

4. Community Reading

Accountability is a really beneficial way to stay on top of your reading schedule. Join a book club with like-minded women. As they have stimulating discussions about the books each month, it’ll give you more ammunition to get involved in the book so that you can have something to contribute to the discussion.

5. Interesting Books

One of the best ways to make sure you squeeze all of your reading in is to make sure the book is interesting enough. This may seem like a basic component. However, many women pick up books that collect dust on the shelf. At the core, having time is only a small part of the puzzle. If you really want to do something, you’ll make the time. If you really want to read the book, you’ll make time. Find a book that you really want to read and that’ll be a great catalyst to help you read more.

6. Speed Reading

Speed reading is an excellent way to get all of your reading in. Channel the college and graduate school days when you have to consume large quantities of information at a quick rate. Check out different strategies for speed reading and implement them into your daily practice.

7. Social Media Replacement

Many people spend an exorbitant amount of time on social media every day. The average person spends up to 135 minutes every day on social media. To make matters worse, they don’t even realize. A great strategy and remedy for the social media issues involve replacement. Delete all of the social media apps from your phone. Now, you can spend two hours focusing on reading and finishing a book. Every time you’re tempted to escape and scroll on social media, open the book app instead. Each time you open it up, you’ll get a little bit more reading in. Before long, you will have finished an entire library of books.
