There’s no denying it. We live in a society that’s obsessed with youth. While many cultures treat age as something to be respected and revered, it seems that most western societies today treat age like an affliction that must be kept at bay at all costs. Perhaps it’s that nagging fear that the best years of our lives may be behind us (they’re not) or the universal fear of our own mortality that motivates us, but there’s no denying that we as a society are feeding an anti-aging market that’s currently worth hundreds of billions. The truth, however, is that the fountain of youth cannot be bottled, packaged and resold. There’s no one product that can reverse the aging effects of our lifestyle choices, although it’s safe to say that some products are better-informed purchases than others (more on that shortly). Here we’ll look at healthy and natural ways in which we can all look and feel younger… And even save a little money along the way.

It begins to seem impossible to follow a healthy diet and lifestyle when your schedule is fully packed. The sleeping pattern gets distorted and a healthy diet turns into energy bars and snacks. If this is the case with you, keep reading because we have got some effective tips and tricks following which you can succeed in achieving a healthier lifestyle amidst the entire hectic schedule that you have.
Some days our bodies just don’t feel like they should. Do you feel tired or suffer from lack of energy? Have you recently felt achy or had digestive problems? If you have experienced any of these symptoms, it may be time to detoxify your body. Detoxifying removes and eliminates toxins and then replenishes the body with healthy nutrients making you feel healthier.
Are you not sure if you need to detoxify? Most individuals should detoxify at least once per year. To begin the detoxification process, you will need to remove as many toxins as possible which include avoiding: caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats. You also need to avoid household cleaners that are chemical based as well as personal products such as shampoos, deodorants, or toothpaste. Try using natural products instead.
Here is an easy 7 day plan:
Fast for 2 days while only drinking water or juicing. You may experience a mild headache. This is normal when you take away caffeine and sugar. Then, for the next 5 days, drink plenty of water and eat foods that are high in fiber such as brown rice, broccoli, cabbage, bananas, raspberries, raisins, and oatmeal. Also, most vegetable based foods tend to be high in fiber. Be sure to add in daily supplements and exercise.
After your initial detoxification plan, you can continue to cleanse your body daily through diet and lifestyle changes. You will begin to feel amazing and welcome the change.
Healthy cookware may not be something you have ever considered. However, if you are trying to eat better, you may be seeking healthier cookware options. Each of the following types of cookware has their advantages but they may also have disadvantages. After reading about them, consider which one fits your needs most.
Considered as being one of the safest of all cooking materials, stainless steel is non-reactive and will not corrode. It is also easy to clean. It is important to note, however, that if harsh abrasives are used, it could damage the surface of the cookware.
This cookware is naturally non-stick. Using it also adds iron to your diet. You can find it pre-seasoned and with an enamel coating. Be aware that enameled or glazed cookware that is made outside of the country may not be made with the same safety standards as the US.
If you are trying a low-fat diet, bamboo cookware is a great one to consider. It is renewable and eco-friendly and adds a touch of flavor to whatever you cook.
Another type of cookware good for low-fat cooking is Terra Cotta. This is great for low temperature cooking or for steaming. Simply soak the cookware in water, place your food into it and then bake it in a low-temperature oven until the Terra Cotta is dry.
Teflon has been around since the 40’s, and many newer cookware brands use this form of coating. Some experts in healthy cookware do not like to use this type of cookware because the coating gives off the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) which has been found to cause cancer in animals. :/
Copper is considered safe because it conducts heat well and can be used for a number of different tasks. It is best to use copper cookware that has a thin outer layer of tin.
In our home, we use stainless steel the majority of the time. Although I do have a few Teflon pans, I have learned that you get what you pay for. I usually end up throwing out my Teflon pans each year. They never seem to last. I plan on saving up for a cast iron skillet. 🙂 What is your preferred cookware?
