Live a Healthier Life by Simplifying Your Diet

Too often happens that people start paying attention to their diet only when they get sick. We are so used to being healthy, that we do nothing to help our bodies keep us that way. We are wrong in the assumption that we are invulnerable, and we should do whatever we can to keep our health for a long time. All good things start with cleaning up (or cleaning out), so a road to a healthy life includes a healthier diet, and there is no better way to keep such a diet than to simplify it.

Go Raw

The simplest and often the healthiest food in the world is food in its raw form: fresh fruit and vegetables! If you want to start simplifying your diet, ditch potato chips, and candy bars and pick up an apple, banana, or mango instead. Eating food that hasn’t been processed and has to keep its nutrients means that you will be getting superior nutrition. While there’s food that simply has to be processed (imagine not cooking your meat, for example), other foods can be eaten unprocessed. This means less cooking and frying on your part, and fewer additives in your system, but also more delicious smoothies!

Something other than coffee

So many of us are used to starting our day with a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee. Coffee is much more than a drink – can you remember the number of things you can add to your coffee in Starbucks? Still, it might be better for you to cut down on cream, sugar, and caramel, and turn to plain old black coffee, or tea instead. By switching to green tea, you will ensure that you’re getting your daily dose of caffeine, only your teeth won’t be stained and you’ll feel more hydrated. What is more, you’ll realize you’re sleeping better at night because your body won’t be using so much caffeine.

Start planning your meals

Yes, preparing meals in advance can be boring, but it has so many benefits that it’s worth sacrificing those couple of hours every week. By planning ahead of time you will change your life for the better: you will always know what you need to buy, you won’t take too long to cook, and you’ll get to eat more nutritious, wholesome foods along the way. Simply by spending half an hour coming up with that week’s meal plan, and finding recipes, you’ll minimize the amount of stress you have to go through every day until you realize what you want to eat. This also means that you won’t be spending as much time in fast food restaurants or drive-thru food places, but instead, you can come home and enjoy a healthy, delicious meal.

No more sodas

Why do we like sodas? They’re sweet, and when served cold they can help you cool down on a hot day. On the other hand, sodas are so full of additives and sugar that you might as well take spoonfuls of sugar and eat that. Instead of drinking sodas, you can prepare your own flavored water or these other healthy alternatives to soda that you can keep in the fridge. Not only will you get the feeling that you’re drinking the most delicious soda in the world, but your body will appreciate the break from all the sugar.

Healthy choices

You don’t have to give up on everything, but by choosing healthier options and supplementing your diet with things like Gundry Vital Reds, where necessary, you can increase your energy while helping your body stay healthy. You can still eat pizza, but you can make a delicious crust out of cauliflower instead of using the dough, and you can make your own ketchup by mashing tomatoes. Simply by deciding to use whole grain bread, raw honey, brown sugar, and raw fruit and veggies, you will ensure that your body gets what it needs: vitamins, protein, minerals, fiber, good fats, and antioxidants.

Not-so-guilty pleasures

We all have cravings for sweets and junk food, but eating those is bad for your health for multiple reasons: too many calories, artificial sweeteners, and dyes, not to mention cholesterol! Instead of reaching for the chips and candy bars when you need a snack, you can start preparing your own healthy snacks and desserts. By getting a bag of healthy yet delicious whey protein isolate, you will be able to make protein cupcakes, pancakes, and muffins without feeling guilty. Swap the syrup with raw honey or dark chocolate, and you’re ready to go.

People hesitate to adopt minimalism in their kitchens because they assume that they won’t be able to eat delicious meals or indulge in sweets ever again. It is not entirely true, you can always eat things that aren’t considered particularly healthy, but it needs to be in moderation. Once you’ve simplified your diet, you’ll notice that you have more energy for everything: for your job, for workouts, and for socializing.
