Exceptional Exfoliation: 4 DIY Facial Scrubs for Dry Skin

When you wake up in the morning or even run your hands over your face during the day, you expect it to be soft and healthy. Sometimes, that’s not how your face may feel because the skin is too dry. Reasons that skin can dry out include the environment you live in, the temperature of the water you use and some of the facial products that you apply to the face. Fortunately, here are a few DIY facial scrubs that you can make at home that can bring life back to your face.

Coconut Oil

One of the most refreshing items that you can use on your face if you have dry skin is coconut oil. Combine half a cup of oil with about two tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. The scrub smells pleasant, and the sugar can gently remove the dry skin from your face. You can also add a small amount of cream to the mixture to make a thicker scrub that you can leave on your face for a longer period of time.

Coffee

Instead of throwing away coffee grounds, keep them to use on your face. If you don’t like the idea of using grounds that have been cycled through the coffee maker, you can grind fresh coffee beans. The aroma is pleasant, and you don’t need many other ingredients to complete the scrub. Add a tablespoon of water to a tablespoon of coffee grounds. Gently apply the scrub on your face, letting it sit for about five minutes. Rinse with warm water until the coffee grounds are off of your face.

Blueberry

If you enjoy using fresh ingredients, then combine a small package of blueberries, a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of honey in a food processor until it’s the consistency of a paste. Apply the paste to your face, leaving it for about five minutes. Blueberries have antioxidant properties, which can make your skin healthier compared to using a lot of harsh chemicals on your face.

Green Tea

You’ve probably heard that drinking green tea offers health benefits for our bodies, such as aiding in boosting the immune system. Using green tea on your face softens your skin and helps to reduce blemishes. You’re going to make a cup of hot green tea that will be mixed with a teaspoon of honey. Allow the tea to cool before rubbing it on your face. Use cold water when rinsing your face.

Cleaning your face doesn’t have to feel like a chore or become a process that you dread during the day. If you use natural ingredients that are healthy for your skin, then washing your face will be something that you want to do every morning or every evening so that you have a healthy glow. Dry skin that persists can be treated by visiting a medical spa that offers professional facials and products.
