Didn’t Pass the Tissue Test? 4 Steps You Can Take to Get Whiter Teeth

Guest post contributed by Hannah Whittenly

A smile is usually noticed upon first meeting a person. It is also something people are usually most self-conscious about if they do not have the whitest teeth. You shouldn’t be afraid to show your smile to the world when easy solutions are available to make your teeth whiter from the comfort of your own home. Here are four easy, over the counter, steps you can take to get whiter teeth within days:

Turmeric Uses

Turmeric is one of the simpler solutions to whiter teeth and known to work within a few days or weeks, depending on the person. There are not many ingredients involved with this recipe, simply just turmeric and a few drops of water to form a paste. Once you mix the turmeric and the water, you can dip your toothbrush in the paste and scrub your teeth just with like regular toothpaste, and let it sit for around five minutes. After those five minutes, you rinse and repeat until the turmeric is completely gone. With just one brush, you will notice your teeth have lightened significantly. However, if you still do not see a difference, brushing with turmeric for a few more weeks can make a difference.

Orange Peels

Although orange peels may take longer than other teeth whitening chemicals to whiten your teeth, they can still get the job done and you do not need to add unnecessary chemicals to your body. Instead of tossing out your orange peels, washing off some of the excess dirt first and then scrubbing it on your teeth can effectively remove some of the stains that have built up.

Oil Pulling

If you use coconut oil for cooking or for your skin and hair, you can also put that oil to use for your teeth. Since coconut is an antibacterial oil, it is one of the more favorable oils to use for teeth whitening. Simply swish it around in your mouth for a good 20 minutes and spit it out in a trash can. Doing this same procedure every single day for a month can remove stains, make teeth whiter, and get rid of bacteria.

Baking Soda

Lemon is known to remove stains and mixing it with baking soda can do wonders for your teeth. By mixing the two ingredients together, you can come up with a paste that works well to scrub with a toothbrush. Scrub your teeth for a good 3 minutes, no longer than that so as to avoid the acids from affecting your enamel.

These are some simple over the counter recipes you can use to whiten your teeth naturally within a few weeks. They are good for removing surface stains and keeping your overall mouth healthy and free of bacteria. Some teeth stains do require visiting a dentist, such as one from Family 1st Dental, as they may be too difficult for you to whiten yourself.
