Summer is almost here and after a year of lockdowns and staying indoors. Many of us are itching to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather. 

Exercising outdoors can have a number of great health benefits and there are a number of activities that you can do. Some of which, you may never have thought of trying before.

Running

Running is a great way to enjoy the weather and it can be fairly easy to find a running path near your home. Running outdoors, as opposed to on an indoor treadmill can give you much more freedom and can also boost your energy levels. When choosing your running path, you want to choose one that is safe and one that you are familiar with. Don’t forget that you will need to ensure you have the correct footwear on to avoid injuries like blisters. 

Cycling

If running is not your thing, then cycling is a great way to improve your heart, lungs and circulation. Not only does cycling help promote weight loss it also strengthens the muscles in your body. If you are serious about cycling, then you may want to invest in a hybrid bike. These bicycles combine features of road bikes with mountain bikes, so they are suitable for riding over a variety of terrains. 

Hiking

Both running and cycling are fast-paced activities. If you are wanting to take up a form of exercise which can be slower in pace, then hiking can be a great outlet to achieve this. Hiking can provide a good lower body cardiovascular workout. Through researching online and speaking to people in your local area, you will be able to find a number of hiking trails that you can enjoy. You should try to pick a trail that reflects your fitness levels in order to avoid any potential injuries that could occur from pushing yourself too far. 

Yoga

Yoga is a form of exercise that can be done inside as well as outside. Yoga helps strengthen the body and mind. It can often feel difficult to put your mind at ease in a controlled environment so taking your yoga mat outside can give you a new sense of tranquillity. Tennis
