Canada is one of the most popular countries in the world among immigrants. And rightfully so! There are many reasons why you might wish to immigrate to Canada, from the breathtaking scenery to numerous educational and job opportunities. What makes Canada even better is that it is an immigrant-friendly country. There is something for everyone with 80 different immigrant pathways. Before you purchase a home in Canada, arm yourself with knowledge and valuable information that will make this challenging move easier. We have such information readily available for you; all you have to do is keep reading.

Research Canada

The first step on your journey to immigrating to Canada is to understand why you wish to do so. You might want to move to a colder climate, acquire a better education, get a promotion or have a better quality of life. No matter the reasons behind this move, Canada can offer plenty of unexpected and wonderful things.

This is why you must do thorough research on anything that might concern you before you immigrate to Canada. If you are a parent, you might be interested in the education you can expect for your children. On the other hand, if you are looking for a better job, you may research the job market and what it can offer you. Additionally, it would be best to explore individual cities in Canada and the properties you might be able to purchase or rent.

You will be awestruck by the scenery found in every corner of Canada.

Understand different ways you can immigrate to Canada

By 2023, Canada plans to open its doors and welcome over one million new immigrants. This is fantastic news! However, as previously mentioned, there are 80 different pathways you may choose to do so. This may appear complicated, and it can be at times, so we’ll try to break down the most common and practical options for you.

  • Express Entry Program

The express entry program is the most efficient way to acquire your permanent residency status. A range of factors, including your education, experience, qualifications, and skills (such as your English skills), determine just how suitable you are for this program. Beware, the express entry program does require a sizeable amount of funds of approximately 2300CAD (Canadian Dollars).

The evaluation takes upwards of 6 months to process. If your points are satisfactory, you will be invited to live, work, study and even start a business in Canada. You may also bring your family along with you to enjoy all the things Canada so freely offers its residents.

However, if your score is lower than required, don’t worry. You may improve your score by getting work experience, working or studying in Canada, or improving your English skills (to name a few).

  • Provincial Nominee Program

If you are interested in immigrating to a particular Canadian province or area, you can use the provincial nominee program (PNP) to gain permanent residence in Canada. Each province, except for Quebec, has multiple PNP streams. These pathways are tailored to the province’s economic and demographic needs. Each province establishes its own application fees, some of which are pretty low or free.

Research what your desired province would expect from you as an immigrant and try and find an area that will not only be perfect for you but one you will be perfect for as well.

  • Work/Study Visa

Getting a work or study visa in Canada is not as difficult as you might think. You must be dedicated, with a strong motivation to work and learn. This is what Canada would expect from you. These visas are, of course, only temporary. However, strongly suggests giving them a try since they significantly increase your chances of becoming an actual Canadian resident. This is especially the case when it comes to studying in Canada, as you will be able to begin working immediately after graduation. You may even have the opportunity to work while studying. The other pathways will become readily available once you have a few years of work experience under your belt. But you need to know that you should find companies that are hiring immigrants and have already gone through Canada LMIA processing time (délai de traitement d’une EIMT au Canada) to get permission of employing foreigners.

If you wish to get a quality education, look no further than Canada!

  • Family Sponsorship

Family sponsorship is a type of immigration that allows family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to join them in Canada. If you fall under these categories, you may be able to sponsor your spouse, children, parents, or even grandchildren. However, a long list of requirements and specific situations may affect this pathway. You will need to do thorough research if you wish to utilize this method.

Apply for the immigrant pathway that suits you

Apply as soon as you’ve settled on an immigrant pathway that you believe best suits your current situation. Be sure you meet the requirements since some options may cost you a significant sum of money. Different immigrant pathways require different ways of applying, most of which are done online. Keep in mind that online applications take less time to process.

After you finish applying, you will need to wait for a lengthy amount of time before you know if you can immigrate to Canada. Utilize this time to better prepare for your (hopefully) future move.

Since most of the applications are made remotely, you will be able to finish them in the comfort of your own home.

Prepare for the move

If you get a positive response from the Canadian government, congratulations will be in order! Now you must start planning your relocation. This requires a number of tasks, particularly if you are organizing a move with your family. These tasks will be very dependent on your requirements and circumstances.

However, some of the more notable ones are:

  • notifying family and friends of your upcoming move
  • finding a new home
  • deciding what you will do with your current house/apartment
  • packing and taking inventory of all of your belongings
  • organizing the means of transportation
  • changing relevant information such as your current address

These are just a handful of the things you must complete before you immigrate to Canada. Although you will have your hands full of responsibilities, it will be well worth it. A great new life in Canada awaits you!
