Coffee Questions: 5 Ways to Get Creamy Coffee Without Full-Cream Milk

Are you done making coffee with full-cream milk? Maybe you want lower calories in your brew, you find the milk a bit sickly, or you just want something different from your morning caffeine fix. The good news is that you can still have a lovely, luxurious, creamy coffee without using full-cream milk. No, really! In fact, with the five methods below, you might just wonder why you ever used dairy in coffee at all:

1. Foam Your Milk

A2 skim milk and other low-fat milk varieties will not make your coffee delicious and creamy when used as they are. However, foaming the milk will add a wonderfully creamy texture to the drink you’re consuming. The best thing to do is heat the milk and then use a milk foamer while the milk is hot. Add instant coffee or espresso shots to the hot foamy milk and pour the whole beverage into a cup.

2. Add a Touch of Sweetness

Certain flavors can add to the indulgent experience of a coffee, making it feel more creamy and decadent without the need for full-fat milk. For example, a little brown sugar, flavored vanilla syrup, or even some agave nectar can make the coffee richer, adding to its luxuriousness. Some people like to add warmth and richness with spices like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, or nutmeg sprinkled into the grounds.

3. Give Non-Dairy Milks a Go

About 2% of Americans are vegan, and many others are lactose intolerant. Luckily, those people don’t have to miss out on a yummy creamy coffee thanks to the vast range of dairy-free milk varieties available on the market.

Certain styles of dairy-free milk are high in fat, which can mean they naturally taste more indulgent and creamy. Coconut and soy, for example, are naturally very creamy and tasty. Oat milk is a particularly great option if you want an indulgent cappuccino or foamy latte because it foams up beautifully, especially the kinds that are specifically designed to be used by baristas. Thankfully, you can usually find these milk varieties in your grocery store – just look for the word “barista” on the carton.

4. Give Bulletproof a Bash

If you want a low-carb alternative to full-cream coffee, why not try bulletproof coffee? Bulletproof coffee can be made using full-fat butter or coconut oil and freshly-brewed coffee. Blend the ingredients at high speed, and enjoy the creamy results with a sprinkle of cinnamon (if you fancy it).

This carb-free drink is meant to be rich and powerful. As part of a ketogenic diet, it could even support weight loss. However, medical experts suggest that people don’t follow the keto diet long-term. It’s certainly an unusual alternative to a traditional creamy coffee, but it’s definitely not lacking in flavor or indulgence.

 5. Try Dalgona Coffee

You trust Tik Tok to put a new bonkers song or audio clip in your head every month, so why not trust it to give you a yummy coffee? The Tik Tok coffee sensation we are referring to is the Dalgona coffee that went viral in the summer of 2020.

All you do is whisk together instant coffee, water, and sugar until you get thick, stiff peaks. You then add that mixture to ice and milk in a glass and pour the creamy coffee mixture on top. The result is an indulgent, thick, delicious coffee drink that’s perfect for a summer treat.

So, what are you waiting for? A luxe, tasty, yummy coffee awaits you – which full-cream alternative will you try in your brew first?
