No one wants to look old. Most of us are constantly searching for the fountain of youth. There are several things you can do to keep that youthful appearance. You can stimulate your brain and eat plant-based foods. Other ideas include getting regular exercises and keeping your skin healthy.
Brain Stimulation
As you get up in age, your brain changes. When you keep your brain active, you create new cells, according to a Harvard University study. You can do so by reading, taking classes, working on puzzles or solving math problems. Your mind stays active when it gets stimulation. Other ways to keep your brain busy is to draw, paint, or do other crafts.
You can volunteer at schools or community centers. Children have a way of forcing you to expand your mind by asking questions. You learn new things when answering questions. Children force you to think about your answers. They will ask more questions if they feel you did not answer them. The experience keeps your brain sharp, making you feel like the child’s age.
Eat Plant-Based Foods
Plant-based foods have fewer calories than eating meat. You do not feel as hungry when you eat fruits and vegetables because of the high fiber content. Also, plant-based foods have high levels of water, which slows down hunger. Studies show eating an abundance of fruits and vegetables make you more energetic. It causes you to exercise more, giving you that youthful appearance.
Exercise
When you exercise, you feel energetic and full of life. New cells form when you are active. It keeps your mind sharp, making you perform better at your job. Exercising wards off stress. If you always feel worrisome, it will affect your appearance and your mood. Plus, exercising helps to lower your blood pressure and lose weight.
Regular Skincare
You can have a youthful appearance by pampering your skin on a regular basis. Your body produces hyaluronic acid, a gel-like substance you can find in the joints and the eyes. It causes new skin cells to grow, helping to repair your skin.
People use hyaluronic acid as a moisturizer, to heal wounds, burns, and skin ulcers. Dermatologists like those at Dr. Park Avenue use the gel-like substance to get rid of wrinkles. It makes your skin more elastic, giving it a youthful glow.
The trick to staying young is to keep your brain active by reading, taking classes, and working with children. Plus, solving puzzles or doing math problems will help to keep your mind stimulated. Other ways to stay young include eating plant-based foods, exercising, and taking care of your skin.
