Types Of Purses

When you think about a purse, what comes to your mind? Because there’s a purse, and then there’s a handbag for ladies. There’s a difference because a bag is smaller than a handbag, while a handbag can supply storage for many things. Yet, in today’s world, both terms are interchangeable. And that’s not all that is interchangeable.

As the language barriers break and diversity increases worldwide, the types of purses also blend. So, it is becoming increasingly perplexing to differentiate between purses. Hence, we decided to shed some light on different types of purses.

You could take this as a guide, too. A guide to the kind of purses every woman should have. With that being said, let’s have a look:

1. Backpack Purse

A combination of a purse and a bag with two shoulder straps that you wear on your back. A backpack purse is usually smaller than conventional backpacks but has become quite trendy as women’s college bags.

2. Belt Bag

Think of these as fanny packs, but more stylish. Belt bags either come with a belt or straps for you to wear with a belt or stash of your dress. These work great with dresses, skirts, and other similar designs and are great for keeping the essentials.

3. Tote Purse Or Bag

Here’s the most versatile bag for everyday shopping or a stroll down the market. Tote bags are one of the biggest and most spacious bags that offer perfect storage.

4. Bucket Purse

The term ‘bucket’ for purses is more about a particular style. These purses are similar to the tote bag but narrower and more elongated. Often, they come in various materials and even in a solid frame.

5. Basket Bags

Basket bags receive their name for the materials that are used. These use flexible wood, or wicker, to weave together and give a more airy and durable feel. Basket bags have become a style statement at beach sides.

6. Crossbody

Another essential, just like the tote bags, is the crossbody purse. These are most versatile as some come with detachable straps. Either way, these hang from one side with elongated straps and come in various shapes and sizes.

7. Classic Purse

This list would’ve been incomplete without a classic purse or handbag. These are also known as barrel bags for their curvey design and bends. As you would guess, a classic purse design never fails for any occasion or requirement.

8. Drawstring Bag

A drawstring bag is more of a pouch with a minimalist appeal and statement. These are lightweight and easy to carry around. Often interchangeable with Satchel or clutch bags.

9. Satchel

A satchel is a sleek purse that can hold most of your essentials. Most satchel bags are interchangeable with drawstring bags, belt bags, or clutch bags. These are the most versatile ones, like crossbody and tote bags.

10. Clutch

And finally, you have the clutch bags. These receive the name from the type of closure they use instead of strings or zips. They utilize clutch-type closure, often either a button or a magnetic one. Some are interlocked, as well.
