Tips for Working Professional Outfits

Going with the trend is great, but wearing office outfits that are sophisticated yet timeless has its advantages. Some styles never go out of fashion, and in this blog, we’ll explore some pieces that always look great without taking too much time out of your busy mornings. Workwear should be comfortable yet appropriate, but sometimes selecting the right outfit can be quite daunting.

Don’t forget that the best workplace outfits need to complement your body type and suit the office environment as well.

Wear Suits Best Suited for You

If you are the person who always feels good in an elegant suit, then let me remind you, a pair of tapered trousers and a blazer never go out of fashion. It is the staple formal office wear and can be worn in any season, depending on the materials used. Similarly, most knee-length skirts or formal dresses can work year after year, and for all different shapes and sizes.

Trousers can also be wide-legged, cropped, or slim fit, whichever suits your body type. Modest skirts paired with a black, navy, gray, or beige blazer are the perfect combination.

With such formal attire, wearing a neutral color shirt or blouse is always the best choice and can give a very polished look. Though you can wear dark colors at times, it’s best not to go for excessively flashy tops.

The Capsule Look – Fashionable Yet Professional

The capsule look is a combination of business and casual wear that most women find comfortable and easy to carry. It is fashionable yet professional and easily adaptable in most environments. Such outfits can include casual tops, shirts, turtle necks, polo shirts during spring or summer, and colorful sweaters in winter. Just remember not to purchase extravagant colors or prints, because it’s important to understand there is a very thin line between formal and casual office wear. For your bottoms, you have a variety of pant options or knee-length skirts that we will be discussing shortly.

Be Casual with Casual Attire

As the name suggests, these outfits are completely opposite of professional attire, and some offices do allow the casual look, and you can try out different outfits to your heart’s content. Jeans and T-shirts combined with sneakers are always in fashion, but it’s still best to avoid ripped jeans in an office. However casual the atmosphere may be, do not wear tank tops, overly tight or transparent tops, revealing dresses, or T-shirts with offensive phrases or logos. Hoodies and sweatshirts are also great for a casual look. So, casual, but not overtly casual, is the answer to a working professional’s look.

The Bohemian Touch with a Contemporary Outlook

A few years back, Bohemian style was not considered as office wear, with its loose-fitting and flowing fabrics adorned with vibrant colors and patterns. But thanks to creative fashion designers, this style has evolved and made its way into the corporate world with minimalist versions in prints and colors to give it a more professional look.

If you are a free-spirited woman with the courage to carry it off, boho pants can add that touch of creativity to your office wardrobe without making it look odd. From choosing the right colors to accessorizing it appropriately, you can make a style statement for your professional wardrobe.

The Job Interview Professional Outfit

Dressing up for a job interview doesn’t have to be something out of this world. It’s almost the same as your formal attire, but you have to look neat and polished. It’s best to research the company beforehand. But even if the company is okay with casual office wear, it’s better to attend the interview in a professional outfit — something that never goes wrong. Your resumé and your confident words should speak louder than your fashion sense!

Tops & Bottoms: Selecting the Right Colors, Prints & Cut

Tops: There is no rule saying that the workplace only encourages plain colors. Go for bold ones, if you can carry it off. Subtle and sophisticated prints are always welcome, and the business casual look offers flexibility and the chance to experiment with unique prints and captivating designs. For an extremely formal look, a white or light-colored shirt always hits the bull’s eye. But pairing your suit with any other color is no offense.

Bottoms: Pencil skirts, A-lined skirts, a flare cut skirt, or a skirt with ruffles are all welcome, depending on whether you want something casual or an utterly business look. But steer clear of miniskirts, denim skirts, or denim dresses.

Similarly, lowers have a lot of options like tapered or slim fit trousers, boho pants, wide leg or flared pants, and jeans (if allowed). Go for basic or dark colors, but avoid using polka dots or floral prints.

Enhance Your Outfit with the Right Accessories

Accessories add style and personality, and no work outfit is complete without them.

Handbags: Purses and handbags have created a special place in women’s professional outfits and are a necessity more than a fashion. Though there are innumerable styles, puffy handbags are a class apart because of their versatility, looks, and functionality. They are unique for their quilted appearance and work well with most casual and formal wear.

Shoes: Flats, such as loafers or ballerina flats, are the simplest and comfortable choice. But if heels are what you prefer, then go for it. Just make sure that the heels are closed-toe and with an appropriate height that is comfortable to walk in.

Jewelry: Office jewelry should be as minimal as possible but elegant. A dainty chain with a small pendant, stud or drop earrings, sleek and stylish bracelets, and a professional watch are all smart jewelry options to top up your looks.

There is no “one-style-fits-all” working professional outfit, and each office has its dress code and rules. Nevertheless, your workwear should be something that appeals to everyone and, most importantly, makes you feel confident and comfortable.
