Food to Take on a Trip: Heavy or Light?

Life, at times, can be stressful with barely enough time to pay attention to your health and body. Hence, being intentional about yourself is the only way by which you can be free from all these. Going on a trip is one of the best ways to let your hair down and relax your body from your typical everyday routine.

Planning trips can be a very tedious task as it involves taking a lot of options into consideration. When planning a trip, things such as where to go, what to do, what to wear, and how many days to spend are always top on people’s mind. However, one majorly ignored but vital aspect of planning a trip is what you will eat on the trip.

Why is Planning Your Food Equally Important?

What you eat affects how well your body organs function. Also, you do not want to get back from a trip with digestive issues which will have you in the hospital, thereby nulling the essence of the trip in the first place.

Aside from the known fact that we need food to live, achieving total body wellness is also fully associated with your food intake and this is why your food stock should be well taken into consideration when planning for a trip.

How to Plan For Your Food?

The type of trip you are going on is a great determinant of the type of food to take on the trip. There are various factors that contribute to this, some of these factors are;

How long is the trip going to last?

Knowing how many days or weeks your trip is going to last is a major determinant of how to plan your food stock during the trip. For one, if your trip is going to be for just a few days, you do not need to pack so many food types since you will be returning really soon. However, in instances where you will be gone for a longer period of time, you might want to consider packing more food varieties that will last you during that period.

Where will you be traveling to?

This is another very important factor to consider for a number of reasons. Having a pre-knowledge of the place you will be traveling to will help you decide on the type of food to take along. Traveling to a place with limited varieties of a specific food will require you to take more of that food substance, especially when it is a nutritious food type. This will help you to ensure that you remain healthy and well-nourished on your trip irrespective of the location.

The means of transport for the trip

The mode of transport is also a great determinant of how flexible your food packing can be. Traveling by car or going on a road trip will afford you with more opportunity to pack as many foodstuffs you want in different varieties, you could even go as far as packing stoves that will be used in preparing some of these uncooked foods. However, this cannot be possible if you will be taking your trip by air as you will have to travel lighter on a plane.

Where will you be lodging during the trip

Where you will be staying can also determine what type of food to take on the trip. If you will be lodging in a hotel which also has a restaurant, you might not need to take so many food stuff with you as you can always buy your food in the restaurant. At the same time, some facilities do not encourage cooking in their lodges, thereby limiting your options of food substances to take along.

These above factors and many others are strong determinants of the type of food to take with you when going on a trip. They are also pointers as to whether to take really heavy food substances along; some of which might require cooking and is more feasible in instances of road trips and camping, or to take the lighter food substances; which is more feasible in short trip duration with travelling limitations.

However, there are some common food substances that are widely known to be great travel partners in a sense of speaking such as;

Food supplements; There are certain essential food nutrients that are best received through the regular use of food supplements. Some of these nutrients such as folic acids, humic acids, fulvic acids will be gotten from these food supplements. Getting these nutrients into the body can be by travelling with fortified foods, best shilajit products or even through natural herbal substances.

Nuts; Nuts are a great source of antioxidants and fiber supply to the body. Taking enough nuts helps your digestive system with its normal functioning processing while providing the body with nutrients simultaneously. One beautiful thing about nuts for travel is the fact that it is quite lightweight and therefore easy to pack for any trip type.

Yogurt; This is a great source of maintaining healthy gut health and also building stronger immunity in the body.

Ginger; A great anti-inflammatory source, ginger can also help to reduce feelings of nausea that travelling can bring. It can also serve as a great source of protection against the foreign substances our body are exposed to during traveling such as the flu.

Conclusion

Traveling can be a source of great fun and relaxation for every individual, but what is fun without food? What you eat on a trip is almost as important as the trip itself, therefore it should not be taken with little importance.
