Wanting to respect someone that has passed away can be done in so many beautiful ways, from a burial ceremony with tasteful appetizers to gorgeous flower arrangements adorning the church, or a heartfelt remembrance speech. But let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment, these things cost money, and not a small amount at that.

If you have ever looked into the pricing of a burial ceremony you may be in for a surprise, who knew that it would cost so much to say goodbye to a loved one, the loss itself is unimaginable yet such is life. So what other options are there, and even more so if the deceased didn’t have a burial plan in place (as so many people don’t these days leaving the burden to friends or family members).

You can take a moment to click here and read an interesting article about what a funeral plan consists of, involves, and why it is important to have one. We think it costs too much money and thus don’t bother saving anything towards it, but this is not the case and there are plenty of savings plan options to fund your funeral when the time comes, not putting the weight of the cost onto family left behind.

If burial is not what you have in mind then what alternatives are there? Well, another choice would be to get cremated. The service and goodbyes are essentially the same but instead of being put into the earth (and presumably, you would need to have bought a plot or piece of the land beforehand, another expense in the burial process), you are put in a coffin, taken to a burner and turned into ashes which your family can then put into an earn and take home.

For many people, this option is perfect because they can still feel close to the person even if they aren’t there in the flesh, and be able to speak to them whenever they just need an ear or help with the grieving process.

So how does it work? If you are thinking about planning for the future or you and your partner are trying to put a plan in place so the kids don’t have to worry about funeral arrangements, knowing where to begin can be daunting.

Well, for starters, you need to find a funeral service company to help you along the way and set up all the details with you, firms such as can guide and advise you on what would suit your vision and budget. You may not think it important, but even if you have passed you still want it to be a good-looking ceremony, and if you have your favorite flowers on display and the best dessert to match then you will be remembered just how people knew you.

Steps and emotions

If you are feeling exhausted thinking about a cremation service and everything, including the emotions that go along with it then you are not alone, many people become overwhelmed and even daunted about the whole process, probably because it is a reality we don’t always want to face. But it is inevitable.

Learning about how it works has helped many feel better about it, understanding the steps, the procedures, how loved ones left behind might feel, and what you could do for them once you have left the earth physically. Let’s take a summarized look at the fundamental steps this way you can make sure that you have all your bases covered when it comes time to the final details of putting your funeral and cremation plan in place.

  • Identifying. Going to look at the corpse is essential to making sure it is the person we think it is, especially if there was an accident that involved a lot of people and deaths. Once they have confirmed the body authorization is then needed to put the pre-planned service into action.
  • Prep and chamber. The morgue will prepare the body for either service if it is an open coffin for the family to say their final goodbyes, or wrapped when it is closed and ready for the fire chamber. After the service it is put into the fire where once completed the ashes will be collected.
  • Finalize. They will then transfer the ashes to the selected urn for the family to take home with them or to scatter the ashes according to the deceased’s wishes.

It is normal to feel like it is all too much, but planning early can take the edge off and you and your other half have time to talk things through if need be.

Life has its challenges for sure, it is never all daisies and rainbows, but the things we do have control over can be done well and planned properly, and this includes a memorable cremation service for your loved one or yourself.
