Ways To Make The Most Of The Morning Routine

Getting your mind and body ready to go every morning can be hard. It can be harder for some people than others, and even “morning people” may need a trick or two at times. If you find it difficult to get things done in the morning, then you may be able to use the following tips, tricks, and techniques, to increase your morning routine productivity

Embrace Notes & Lists

If you have a fuzzy head in the morning and it takes a while to organize your thoughts, make yourself a note. A gentle written or digital reminder may help you blow away the morning cobwebs and reorient your thinking, and give yourself a chance to prioritize your day. 

Minimize Distractions

Fuzzy head or not, if you find it easy to get distracted in the morning then try to understand why that is happening. Be mindful of your activity and the root causes of your distractions. Once you understand the things that are interfering with your routine, you may be able to cope with them better or eliminate them. 

Get Some Exercise

Vigorous exercise is a great way to turbocharge your morning, and it’s one of the healthiest habits you can cultivate. Morning exercise fills your lungs with oxygen that reaches every part of your body, including your central nervous system. Neurotransmitters, hormones, and nutrients fill your body with energy as your metabolism increases. For some people, this kind of energy boost may last for hours. 

Hydration & Nutrition

Staying hydrated is a good habit. You don’t have to drink so much water that you wake up all night long, just make sure you have plenty of water in the morning. An 8-ounce glass of cold water in the morning may help wake up your metabolism.  

Morning nutrition can be important too. Everyone has a favorite breakfast, but if it slows you down consider switching to a lighter menu. For some people, breakfast makes no difference, and skipping breakfast is not uncommon. Those who exercise in the morning, for example, may forego breakfast in favor of a more nutritious lunch.

Digesting honey releases a burst of glucose that your body can use to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate). ATP is needed to transfer energy to your cells, so with more of it available, you may receive a temporary energy boost. Try a tablespoon or two in a glass of water for a basic energy drink.

Honey combined with certain herbs may be even more effective. Typical herbs added to honey for energy include ginger, ginseng, black seed oil, and Ginkgo biloba

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo biloba is a popular herb in Chinese traditional medicine, where it is believed to open “energy channels” in the body. It is used by a large number of people to address a variety of conditions. 

Ginkgo may help improve memory and circulation. It may help to reduce mental fatigue and boost your metabolism, resulting in a temporary energy increase. You can purchase Ginkgo in capsule and powder form online or in stores that specialize in nutritional supplements.

Peppermint

Studies have indicated that menthol, terpenes, and other organic compounds in peppermint tea may boost cognitive functions and reduce mental fatigue. Aromatherapy with peppermint oil may work as well. 

Peppermint tea is available in most grocery stores, and you can find essential oils in stores that specialize in nutritional supplements and organic products online. 

Kratom

Kratom is a tree grown in regions of South Asia and Polynesia. It can be found in several varieties, or strains, which may benefit an active lifestyle. While some people enjoy green vein and red vein kratom strains for their relaxing properties, many prefer white vein kratom in the morning for a serious energy boost.  

You can find quality kratom extract, powders, and capsules in many stores and online. If you can’t locate a strain of white kratom, other kratoms may be substituted, but they may have lesser energizing effects. 

Do A Detox

In some cases, morning lethargy may be caused by a chemical imbalance. If this is the case, detoxing may bring back some of the morning energy you’ve been missing. Detoxing may make you feel healthier and make the transition between sleep and waking hours smoother. You can find detox kits online and in stores that specialize in health and nutrition products.
