Summer is the season we all love to hate. It’s a huge improvement over winter because we can finally enjoy the beauty of nature in our own yards. However, it also requires quite a bit of preparation. During the hottest months, you can expect the sun to start scorching everything in your garden, including yourself. It can also get pretty dusty from time to time. In order to properly take care of your yard during summer, you should make some light preparations.
Your back yard can be a constant challenge in terms of making it look good. If you live in an arid area, it takes a lot of water to keep things green. If you live in a temperate zone, you must deal with burrowing animals like moles or rabbits undermining your back yard’s integrity. Despite these kinds of challenges, there are things you can do to immediately improve the look of your back yard.
Like any room in your home, your backyard will be as unique as you want it to. The more personal details and original ideas you use for it, the more beautiful it will be. If you follow these tips, you’ll get there more easily.
Since the dawn of time, people have been fascinated with pools. In fact, the first record of a pool, or bath back then, is from five thousand years ago in one of the Pakistani city’s settlements. People have come a long way since The Great Bath, and now you can find an aesthetically pleasing family pool in almost any Australian house. It’s the centre of activity during summers, which is why safety should be a priority aside from fun. Children and pets can often stop paying attention to their surroundings when they’re playing and the consequences could be fatal. So as to avoid that fate, here’s how to keep your family safe around the pool.
Maintaining your grass can be a hassle and going on holiday or taking a break from gardening can completely undo all the hard work you’ve put into it. Thankfully, modern companies are always developing better and better alternatives, so it’s easier than ever to switch it out for artificial grass at a moment’s notice.
Having the chance to enjoy spending time in the backyard is important to many homeowners. You put hard work into maintaining it, from using your electric lawn mower to keep the grass neat to weeding and watering your plants regularly. That said, it’s hard to enjoy your space if you lack privacy.
With summertime almost here, it can only mean two things: good weather and fun outdoor events. As you start to plan your next backyard campout or beginning of summer party, consider a fun activity that involves your fire pit. The best fire pit or bonfire activity is, of course, making s’mores! Roasting marshmallows are the first step to a delicious s’mores. Elevate the typical marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker combination with fun flavors like strawberry hazelnut or peaches n’ cream. Check out these 5 delicious fire pit s’mores ideas that Wayfair put together for your next event:

The weather is nice and hot, so is there anything better than spending these sunny days and warm evenings right in your backyard? And wouldn’t it be even more amazing if you’ve spruced up your backyard all by yourself instead of hiring someone and paying them a ton of money to do it for you? There are plenty of things you can do to turn your backyard into your personal oasis where you’ll be able to enjoy peace and quiet or throw lovely summer parties.
With cooler weather right around the corner, we need to get outdoors and enjoy our backyards with the family! The weather is still beautiful and we might as well soak up the sun while we still can. Plus, with the kids already back in school, a little quality time spent would be a good thing.
We all enjoy eating, right? Consider having your next meal outside. Whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, create a space for your family to enjoy it outdoors. If you have a barbeque grill, use it for weekday dinners or weekend lunches. Grilled food always taste good!
If you don’t own a grill, consider having a backyard picnic, or picnic in the park. These are a few of my favorite picnic foods: subs, coleslaw, salads, crackers, cheese, fruit, cookies, and pretzels. Pack a cooler full of drinks and a blanket and you’re good to go! If you’re not sure what to take along, try getting some picnic ideas off of pinterest.
Swimming is always at the top of my kid’s fun list. Our grandma has a pool in her backyard and that is always good family fun – barbeque and swimming! If you don’t have a pool, there are other fun activities, get creative! My husband and I go out and throw a football with our kids. We practice baseball too. We take walks while the kids ride their bikes or scooters along with us. Yesterday after our walk, the kids filled up water balloons and we had a water balloon fight. Guess who got wet? Yes, mama did! 🙂
Since fall is quickly approaching, now is probably a good time to pick up a cheap water sprinkler or water guns. If your family likes to play sports check out the volleyball nets and basketball hoops. Besides being fun, they offer great exercise! Do you remember playing kickball? Well, it is still fun! I was surprised to see how engaging kickball still is for the kids. I guess some things never change. 😉
If you are contemplating a summer campout, why not try it out first in the backyard? It will make life so much easier just in case you forget any must have supplies. If anything major comes up you can all go inside! Plus, the kids will simply love the adventure of sleeping outdoors!
There is so much to do in your own backyard. Go spend time with the family and make memories!! You won’t regret it. 🙂
