Crock-Pot Sausage Peppers and Onions ~ Don’t Wait for Fair Food!
It’s about time for street fairs and county fairs to start popping up everywhere. And it seems no fair is complete without fair food. What’s fair food? Typically it’s a lot of fried foods, including veggies, dough, and occasionally an oddity like oreos or my favorite (yet untried) deep fried butter. But my very favorite that I remember getting as a child, was a big hoagie roll filled with Sausage Peppers and Onions. Cooked on a huge griddle in giant spirals, you could peer in the windows of the fair cart and see them sizzling as they cut a chunk for your roll. But why wait until the fairs start up? Make Crock-Pot Sausage Peppers and Onions at home, easily!
A Summertime Dream Meal: Sausage Peppers and Onions Fit the Bill
Cooking Sausage Peppers and Onions in your Crock-Pot keeps your kitchen cooler, but it also allows you the time to have fun this summer, knowing that you have a great meal ready and waiting for you when you need it. I love to make up huge batches of Sausage Peppers and Onions, just in case I have people stop by around dinner time, or to have as leftovers for a day or two. Simply heat the Sausage Peppers and Onions in the microwave or oven and nestle in a hoagie roll for a meal that tastes just as good reheated as it did the first day!
Sausage Peppers and Onions: Don’t Stick to Just Italian!
You can make Sausage Peppers and Onions, or something similar, with just about any sausage, all different kinds of veggies, and a Crock-Pot. I love using sauerkraut and kielbasa, or even for the kiddos, hot dogs. It makes a fantastic meal that you only have to spend about 5 minutes preparing, then let it do its own thing in the Crock-Pot.
