So, it is two in the afternoon and you just feel sluggish and need a pick-me-up. Or you need to stay up late tonight to finish a presentation for work and need an energy boost. Don’t grab any of those energy drinks you see in stores. They will give you the jitters from too much caffeine and will give you insomnia. Instead, try some terrific home remedies for a quick energy boost.
Bananas – Bananas are a terrific source of energy because they contain natural sugars like fructose, sucrose, and glucose. Bananas also contain fiber and potassium. You can either just eat a banana whenever you need an energy boost, or you can drink a banana smoothie.
Almonds – Almonds are loaded with Vitamin E, which provides you with energy and they are packed with magnesium, which helps convert carbohydrates, protein, and fat into energy sources. Whenever you want instant energy, eat a handful of roasted almonds.
Lemon – Lemons are a great pick-me-upper when you are feeling sluggish. Most people don’t like eating lemons on their own so instead try a cup of hot lemon tea or a glass of fresh lemonade.
Green tea – Green tea has just a small amount of caffeine, just enough to give you an energy boost when you need it. Consider a cup of green tea for that mid-afternoon pickup.
Apples – Instead of grabbing that cookie or chocolate bar to provide you with energy, try grabbing an apple instead. Apples contain complex carbohydrates along with fiber and Vitamin C.
Mangos – Mangos are sweet and juicy and are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Mangos also contain iron which can help those who suffer from anemia. By eating mangos once or twice a day, you can help treat fatigue and weakness.
Strawberries – Strawberries are a great source of energy because they contain Vitamin C. You can snack on a handful of strawberries, slice them up in a salad or drink a strawberry smoothie when you need an energy boost.
A while ago I was looking for ideas on how to boost energy without coffee..(though I love love love love coffee!) . Berries are a great way (not only strawberries) so I started making smoothies (with yogurt sometimes but a lot of times with almond milk). For me, it works awesome!
