Kitchen Necessities for 2020

The kitchen is a long standing hub in our homes. It’s where my family gathers every morning before rushing out the door and where we land each evening before calling it a day. We’ve had laughs, we’ve had arguments, we’ve have spills (lots of spills), and we’ve made memories that will last a lifetime and beyond. We feed our bodies and our hearts in the same spot everyday. I’ve compiled a list of things that have become kitchen necessities for me to make sure we can spend more time enjoying each other!

13 Valentines Day Gifts for Friends and More

Unique Valentines Day Gifts for the Friend Zone

Valentines Day has always been a different kind of holiday for me. When I was younger the thought of getting flowers from a special someone to say “I love you”, seemed like the most romantic thing ever. Fast forward a few years and these days… when my sweet hubby was sweeping the floors and making sure the dishes were done while I had the flu – he’s never been more sexy. It’s funny how time changes us like that. Flowers don’t even make my top 10 list for gifts anymore – they die! Give me a gift that will be here next month and I will be a happy camper.

It’s that time of year again… you know what I’m taking about. The Freeloader Gets Your Family Moving – TOGETHER #Review

Lighten your load with the FREELOADER!

When I was a new mama, MY mama gave me some advice that I’ve tried to keep in mind as my kids grew.  We were in the mall one day and she pointed to a dad with his child, the dad was obviously in a hurry and was pretty much dragging jr along behind.  My wise mama, said – “would you look at that!  Does that daddy not realize that his little boy has to take three steps for his every ONE!?!”  I’ve tried to keep this in mind when my littles had petite legs and would inevitably just carry them on my hip while trying to balance pushing a baby stroller loaded down with my other babes and answer the phone that wouldn’t stop ringing… I can only imagine the site I must’ve been!  This Freeloader would’ve made my life SOOOO much easier!

Come Fly With Me at Flyaway Indoor Skydiving #Flyaway

Skydiving for the entire family

I am afraid of heights.  Terribly afraid of heights.  So afraid of heights; that I’ve turned down an anniversary trip to Hawaii because we can’t drive there. (Come to think about it – he knew I was terrified before he offered… he knew I’d turn it down… Humph… he owes me an anniversary trip! {driving distance of course!}).

When we got the opportunity to go “skydiving” I’ll admit I was a little skeptical (and yes scared).  I shouldn’t have been!  We had an absolute blast!  My husband, myself, and my three kids (ages 13-8) all went to the Flyaway Indoor Skydiving in Pigeon Forge, TN and highly recommend it!

Avoiding an Identity Crisis

Finding yourself isn’t really that difficult when you know where to look

Did you ever play the “who am I” game as a child?  I did and loved it!  My kids loved it just as much.  You describe the animal and your friends have to guess who you are.  This is a fun game, but somehow I got sucked into playing this game with my life.  Constantly trying to find my identity in what I was doing.  That’s a very dangerous game and I almost lost.

I am married. I am not a wife.

I sing. I am not a singer.

I teach. I am not a teacher.

I have children. I am not a mama.

I write. I am not a writer.

I have a job. I am not an employee.

I am …

What am I?  Who am I?

This question has haunted me for decades.

Dear Mama – You. Are. Enough. #motivation

We have all been there.  We’ve all been right where you are.  Feelings of insecurities are compounded by feelings of inadequacy and the cherry on top is hopelessness.

Mama – Life. Is. Hard.

There’s sleepless nights – why didn’t anyone tell me that just because they’re not physically waking me up doesn’t mean I’m going to sleep thru the night?!?  I think I actually slept better when I was getting up every 2 hours for feedings or scary dreams.
