Budget Wedding Craft Ideas

wedding2

In a wedding I recently attended, a bride hand-crafted nearly everything. The items that were not handcrafted were purchased second-hand. She did an amazing job and should win the most frugal bride award. It was impressive.

The wedding was held at a lodge with beautifully crafted décor on each table. Long flowing white table clothes draped across each table. To add stunning character, each table had its own color theme. All items on the table matched the color theme – even down to the hand painted glasses.

Wedding crafts can add a personal touch to your special day without breaking your budget. Here are a few ideas to keep in mind.

When I got married, a friend of mine made my wedding veil. To make your own veil, you will need bridal illusion or tulle.  Be sure to purchase enough depending on your desired length. You will also need a comb or headband to attach it to your hair. You may add tiny flowers, small stones or pearls to give it bling.

If you enjoy baking, consider making your own wedding cake. Most craft stores have all the supplies you will need to decorate a beautiful cake. Practice a layer before the big day to ensure that it turns out the way you want it to. Sometimes stacking cakes can be tricky. To simplify this, purchase multiple layered cake stands to create the look you are seeking.

If the thought of fresh flowers is not even an option, consider crafting your bouquets with wild flowers. Place your bouquets in large clear vases with a satin ribbons tied around them.

Simply adding bows to your chairs or to the end of the church pews can add a special touch to any wedding venue. For fall and winter weddings, use velvet ribbon and for spring and summer, use satin ribbons.

Get friends and family involved in the wedding craft adventure. It will create lasting memories and take some of the pressure off of you. Begin early. The frugal bride I mentioned earlier started creating her wedding favors a year in advance. She picked things up gradually as she ran across them. All of her flowers, glasses, and décor were carefully pre-planned and handcrafted. Create a beautiful wedding with a personal touch by crafting your own wedding items!
